Drew Barrymore's Most Relatable Mom Photos Are Hilarious

One of our favorite Pisces parents of all time, Drew Barrymore, has a birthday this week on Saturday, February 22. She announced on Instagram Wednesday that her birthday present to herself is an experiment: She’s taking a week-long break from social media. And honestly, more power to her.

But! That doesn’t mean we have to take a break from stanning Barrymore — and her fam, and her gorgeous Flower By Drew line — on social media, because we’re just sneaky like that. Barrymore doesn’t share much about her kids (ie, their faces) on Instagram, but when you get a glimpse of daughters Olive and Frankie just outside the frame or hear their cute lil voices, it’s easy to tell they’re the center of Mama Drew’s world. Plus, we love the honest conversations she has with them, whether about pelvic floor health or aging gracefully.

“I’m now determined more than ever to show my daughters that aging is a luxury,” Barrymore told NewBeauty this past spring. “If we’re lucky, we are all going to age. I just want them to be at peace with who they are and not what they look like. If they are good, cool people; that’s all I care about.”

And it sounds like she’s doing just fine on the raising-cool-people front. So in honor of Barrymore’s birthday, we rounded up a few of her most relatable mom moments courtesy of her Instagram — plus the pics to prove just how dedicated, open, relatable, and plain-old chill she is as a mom.

She snaps stealth pics when her kids aren’t looking.

The conscious mom’s dilemma: We want to take pics of our adorable kids and plaster them everywhere, but we also want to respect their privacy online. Sigh. Rear-end photos it is then.

She gets real with her kids about bodies.

#WELLNESSWEEK After a big week of rad food, how do we balance? Oh that elusive woman named “balance” and how she evades us sometimes. But! To harness wellness, I want to promote it in several forms. What is wellness? What is our genetics? What is our lifestyle and priorities? I kick it off talking to my daughter Frankie and I am keeping very real with her! As I will with you all week long! Let the games begin! And let’s celebrate our challenges as well as our triumphs. PELVIC FLOOR PHYSICAL THERAPY IS WHAT I HAD TO ENGAGE IN TO JUMP START MY NEW LIFE IN THE WELLNESS SPACE. @manhattanphysiogroup and #Emsculpt @btlaesthetics helped me tremendously! But it all takes work. Nothing comes easy. But the way we work (and without injury so we can keep going) the way we approach health and wellness is also different for everyone. This is a week in my life! I hope you enjoy.

Pretty sure at the exact moment Barrymore was having this convo with her daughter about her pelvic floor muscles (while her daughter was seated upon her pelvis, no less) I was correcting my 4-year-old son when he said he thinks vaginas are “shaped like a semi-circle.” So, same-same.

She knows the “baby bounce-back” is bullshit.

I go up and I go down. The rollercoaster of my body is a challenging, but beautiful ride. I made two kids. The single most important purpose for me being on this planet is for them! It is a true miracle I was able to have these two girls. So whatever the aftermath on my body, well bring it on! That said, there have been times i have stood in my closet and just cried. Hated getting dressed. Didn’t feel good! It takes so much for me to look decent. I have to eat just right and Work my ass off! I cannot fight the fact that I have the propensity to be the Pillsbury dough boy! (Now all I can think about is crescent rolls) So DON’T Be fooled by what you see when people are thin right after baby. Don’t compare yourself to the magazines and the red carpets. If I looked decent on anything I have done since I had my two kids, I have clawed my way there. You can too! However, it is hard to sustain and can take a lot of the joy out of life with food. But not anymore. NOW I have found that elusive B called BALANCE. 45! It only took 45 years to find myself. Right where I am supposed to be. And it’s not perfect. But it’s me. And most importantly, I want to share it with you. Ps this is the power of @marniealton, she’s the one who helped me be @santaclaritadiet ready! #WELLNESSWEEK

She posted it, but we’ll say it again: “DON’T be fooled by what you see when people are thin right after baby. Don’t compare yourself to the magazines and the red carpets.” Amen.

She (bravely) lets her kids help with her makeup.

I mean, girl looks good with the “help” of that squeaky-voiced little gal! When I let my son help with my lipstick, I look way more like a clown. Ah, the things we do for the love of our littles.

She finally folded and bought them the (creepy) pet of their dreams.

I mean, we’ve been there. And honestly, as sorta-creepy as a white mouse is, seems like a low lift compared to the German Shepherds plenty of our kids whine for.

She knows the truth about kid snacks: Sometimes, you just have to make it into a person for them to eat it.

Let ye among us who has never put a face on your kid’s food in a desperate attempt to convince them that FRUITS R FUN cast the first, um, banana.

Drew Barrymore and her ex Will Kopelman are just two of our favorite split celebrities who are nailing the co-parenting game.
