Decisions, Decisions! Kim, Kanye Chose Son Psalm's Name 'After the Birth'

Not a decision to take lightly. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West had a tough time figuring out what they should name their new arrival, Psalm West.

A source tells Us Weekly exclusively that Kardashian, 38, and West, 41, “had multiple names” for their son and “didn’t decide [on Psalm] until a day after the birth.” But now that the newborn has a moniker, the family is happier than ever.

“All the kids are so excited for the new baby. It’s a very special time,” the insider gushes. “Kim and Kanye are so happy. Four [kids] is the same as three in terms of how much they have on their plate. Their life is totally rooted in their family.”

Psalm was born via surrogate on May 9. “He’s here and he’s perfect,” the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star tweeted the day after her youngest child’s birth. Hours later, she noted, “He is the most calm and chill of all of my babies so far and everyone loves him so much.”

The reality television personality also confessed that Psalm bears a striking resemblance to 16-month-old daughter Chicago West. “He’s also Chicago’s twin lol,” she tweeted on May 10. “I’m sure he will change a lot but now he looks just like her.”

The Selfish author kept the newborn’s name private for several days, but revealed his unique moniker by posting a screenshot of a text message from Kanye on Friday, May 17. “Beautiful Mother’s Day With the arrival of our fourth child,” the musician wrote alongside a picture of Psalm. “We are blessed beyond measure We have everything we need.”

According to Merriam-Webster, a psalm is a “sacred song or poem used in worship, especially one of the biblical hymns collected in the Book of Psalms.” The name seemingly pays tribute to the “Stronger” wordsmith’s worship celebrations, which he holds on Sundays in Los Angeles.

“It’s honestly more like a healing experience for my husband,” Kardashian told Elle in April. “It’s just music, there’s no sermon. It’s definitely something he believes in, Jesus, and there’s a Christian vibe. But there’s no preaching. It’s just a very spiritual Christian experience.”

The couple, who will celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary on Friday, May 24, also share 5-year-old daughter North West and 3-year-old son Saint West.
