Her side of the story. Cardi B spoke out about her recent brawl with Nicki Minaj and defended her parenting skills when it comes to daughter Kulture.
“For a while now, [Nicki’s] been taking a lot of shots at me,” the 25-year-old rapper told W magazine in a profile published on Tuesday, October 9. “I spoke to her twice before and we came to an understanding. But she kept it going.”
Cardi and Minaj, 35, got into a physical altercation in September at a New York Fashion Week soiree after Cardi accused the “Barbie Tingz” rapper of liking social media posts that critiqued her mothering abilities. An onlooker told Us that Cardi tossed her shoe at Minaj and “was throwing punches.”
“I love my daughter. I’m a good-ass f—king mom,” the “Bodak Yellow” rapper told W. “So for somebody that don’t have a child to like that comment? So many people want to say that party wasn’t the time or the place, but I’m not going to catch another artist in the grocery store or down the block.”
Cardi added that she pulled out of Bruno Mars’ upcoming tour, even though “she was going to make millions,” so she could spend time with Kulture: “I sacrificed that to stay with my daughter.”
Despite the “Be Careful” songstress’ claims, a source previously told Us that Minaj “never liked any posts about Kulture or said anything about Cardi as a mother.”
The Queen Radio host took to her Beats 1 show in September to set the record straight about her fight with the “I Like It” rapper.
“Let me just say this. The other night, I was a part of something so mortifying and humiliating to go through in front of the upper echelon … people who have their lives together. The way they passed by looking at this disgusting commotion I will never forget. I was mortified. I could not believe how humiliating it all felt … how we made ourselves look,” Minaj recalled at the time. “I wanna say that I would never discuss anyone’s child … I would never talk about anyone’s child or parenting. It’s so crazy to me that people [always] need to make [me] the bad guy. When you have to say that I said or did something that I never said or did … I am not a clown. That’s clown s—t.”
