Anne Hathaway: My Son Is a 'Big Reason Why' I Joined 'Sesame Street' Movie

Motivating his mom! Anne Hathaway’s 3-year-old son played a huge role in the actress’ decision to star in the new Sesame Street movie.

“I’m over the moon,” the Oscar winner, 36, told Us Weekly of joining the cast at The Hustle L.A. premiere on Wednesday, May 8. “A big reason why I’m doing it is just an off chance that [Jonathan] has a memory of hanging out with Cookie Monster.”

Hathaway added: “I’m a big fan of Snuffleupagus. I love Snuffy, but my son is all about Cookie Monster. All about Cookie Monster.”

The Princess Diaries star and her husband, Adam Shulman, welcomed their son in 2016, four years after tying the knot.

Since becoming a mom, the New York native has adopted a parenting tip from Prince William and Duchess Kate.

“They get down on the child’s level and speak to them eye to eye to make their child feel empowered,” the Serenity actress told the Sunday Times of the couple, who share Prince George, 5, Princess Charlotte, 4, and Prince Louis, 12 months, in February. “I thought that was really cool. I started doing that with Jonathan.”

Another thing the Golden Globe winner is doing for her son is staying sober.

“I quit drinking back in October … for 18 years,” she told Ellen DeGeneres in January. “I’m going to stop drinking while my son is in my house just because I don’t totally love the way I do it, and he’s getting to an age where he really does need me all the time in the morning. I did one school run one day where I dropped him off at school. I wasn’t driving, but I was hungover and that was enough for me. I didn’t love that one.”
