Amber Tamblyn Shares Which Item No Parent Needs on Their Baby Registry

Amber Tamblyn has a tip for expecting parents: Skip the wipe warmer!

“Oh, my God, there are so many things you don’t need on your registry,” Tamblyn, 35, told Us Weekly at the Feminist AF reading series at Vulture Fest in Los Angeles on Sunday, November 18. “I understand some babies are more fickle than others … but also get your kid used to the real world a little bit. You don’t have to pamper them so crazily. I think wipe warmers are pretty ridiculous.”

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants actress and her husband, David Cross, are parents of 20-month-old daughter Marlow.

“We like to put the diaper wipes in the freezer so they are freezing cold and painful,” Tamblyn joked.

As for their Christmas plans, the Two and a Half Men alum and the comedian, 54, just hope their toddler lets them get some shut-eye. “A sleep holiday would be great,” she told Us. “Actually, coming out here for this festival is actually a little sleep vacation because I’m away from her. She’s back in New York and I get to sleep  a bit. So that’s nice.”

Tamblyn, who advocates for women, admitted that she worries about Marlow’s future. “I think one of the biggest things for me as a mom is to just remember that I really don’t have much control in being able to protect her,” explained the Any Man author. “But I can keep her close and I can do everything I can to change the world instead. So that’s what I kind of try to do on a daily basis is to try to make the world a better place to live in, as opposed to just being fearful of what she will go through.

But the poet and Cross, who have been married since 2012, are holding off on hard conversations for now. “I think we’re just trying to get through the morning cartoons,” she told Us. “At this point, she’s almost 2 and we’re trying to talk to her about what her breakfast is going to be.”
