Alf returns to the Bay with shocking news in Home and Away

Alf (Ray Meagher) has been away from the Bay for a little while, having decided to accompany Martha (Belinda Giblin) on the road trip they’d always talked about. When Roo (Georgie Parker) returns from her teaching stint in the Kimberley, she’s surprised to discover that Alf has ‘gone on a fishing trip’ – and that Martha was in the Bay without her knowledge.

The time has come for Alf to return, but the morning he gets back to the house, everyone is rushing out for the day, leaving him feeling left out. However, he’s greeted warmly in the Diner by Marilyn (Emily Symons), Maggie (Kestie Morassi) and Ben (Rohan Nichol), who say he looks rejuvenated after his trip.

Alf dismisses the fussing, finding it awkward, and sits down with Marilyn to catch up. After discussing Jett’s (Will McDonald) situation, Alf asks Marilyn if Roo knew about Martha’s trip to the Bay while she was away. However, Marilyn is unsure, as she was preoccupied with Jett.

We see Alf impatiently reject a call, and later on he picks up the phone to exchange some cryptic words. What is he hiding?

Later on, Raffy (Olivia Deeble) and Ryder (Lukas Radovich) are looking for a quiet place to study, but manage to enter the house just as Alf wants to make a call. He impatiently rushes them out of the room with a stack of food, and calls Martha, saying that ‘her ringing every five minutes won’t change anything’.

Finally, Alf and Roo sit down alone together, but Alf can’t get a word in edgeways due to Roo gushing about her time in the Kimberley. This leads to a frustrated voice piping up from the doorway – it’s Martha.

A speechless Roo is told that Martha and Alf – her parents – are back together…
