90 Day Fiance's Russ Doesn’t Want Paola's Friend Juan to Meet Their Son

Still a sore spot! Russ Mayfield doesn’t want his wife Paola Mayfield’s best friend, Juan, to meet their son, Axel.

“I was not for Juan watching him,” the 90 Day Fiancé star, 31, told Us Weekly exclusively at a Tuesday, May 22, event promoting spinoffs Happily Ever After? and The Other Way.

His wife, 32, though, does not agree, telling Us, “I want Juan to meet [our son]. He’s close. I know how much Juan loves me and I know I’ll make him love my son a lot.”

So why does the engineer have such strong feelings against Paola’s friend meeting his baby boy? “He made comments before, when she first told him she was pregnant that I didn’t appreciate,” the TLC personality told Us.

Juan has been a frequent place of tension in the couple’s relationship. Paola’s friend once even told Russ to his face that he is against their marriage.

“The biggest thing that I feel is haunting me is not being able to support my husband, and give my husband the place he deserves when it comes to my best friend,” Paola said after the two argued on 90 Day Fiancé. “My best friend has always been my life … [but] I didn’t back my husband up, and it’s just something I really regret.”

The model gave birth to the couple’s first child together in January. “What an amazing way to start a new year, while I was hearing the fireworks and people telling me, ‘Happy New Year,’ I was just focused on meeting my baby, it wasn’t easy but it was totally worth it,” she said in a statement at the time. “My little miracle is so beautiful and calm. I feel so blessed and I can’t believe I am a mom now! I’m ready to start this new adventure and to be the best mom for baby Axel.”

90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? airs on TLC Sundays at 8 p.m. ET, and 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way premieres Monday, June 3,  at 9 p.m. ET.
