Deal with it! 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? star Paola Mayfield’s close friend Juan did not find out about her pregnancy until the day before Us Weekly broke the news.
“I told him, ‘Look, this is gonna happen, so I don’t want you to find out through someone else,’” Mayfield tells Us exclusively. “And he was like, ‘I’m about to cry. Even though I know I’m not a big fan of Russ, this is amazing because I love you and I know what you’ve been through, so I’m really happy for you.’”
The mom-to-be’s husband, Russ Mayfield, and Juan have been vocal on multiple occasions on the TLC docuseries that they do not get along. In light of their drama, Paola tells Us she was “surprised” that Juan took the news of her pregnancy well. She now hopes that her baby will mend Russ and Juan’s relationship.
“I want to believe [it will], but he has to accept it no matter what,” she tells Us of Juan. “There’s nothing he can do about it, and I don’t want the negativity around us because we’re going to be parents.”
As for whether Juan can spend time with the baby? “I’m not gonna say no, but he’s definitely going to need to be more respectful if he’s gonna wanna hang around,” Paola says. “[He needs to be] more civil, cordial. That’s all I’ve asked from him.”
Paola suffered a miscarriage prior to her current pregnancy. The heartbreaking loss caused a rift in her relationship with Russ, whom she wed in October 2013. But now that they have a baby on board, the couple are overjoyed.
“This is the most amazing feeling ever! We can’t believe we are going to be parents — we are already so in love with our baby,” they told Us earlier this week. “We are ready for this new adventure and we know it will bring us closer together. God has blessed us again, and this time, we are going as strong as our baby’s heartbeat!”
