Rich Brothers claim they ‘never fall out’ as they show Britons how to make garden in a pot

Gardening: The Rich Brothers give tips on planting with pots

The Rich Brothers, also known as Harry and David Rich, are two brothers from Brecon, Wales. The gardening duo work together with Charlie Dimmock on Garden Rescue regularly. The brothers are also known for winning the RHS Chelsea Flower Show twice and were the youngest team to win back in 2015.

Since then, the brothers are known for appearing on multiple programmes where they often share gardening tips with fellow enthusiasts.

In June 2015, the Rich Brothers appeared on This Morning with Amanda Holden and Phillip Schofield.

The pair showed the presenters and viewers how to garden in a plant pot.

Their advice is especially notable for those with small gardens or very little outdoor space.

They said: “We’re basically showing you that you don’t have to have a garden be able to enjoy plants and be into gardening.

“So you can do it just as well in the pot.”

The brothers showed viewers, firstly, how to pot using a “cottagey style pot” made from classic terracotta.

In the pot, they put a stipa plant and a nepeta plant which roughly cost £7.99 each.

The nepeta, also known as catnip, smells fragrant and is especially appealing to bees.

They added: “It’s quick and this just shows what you can do with a smaller pot.”

Both the plants were put into the same pot with the brothers claiming that they roots would not “outgrow” the container.

However, they did warn viewers that they wouldn’t want to put more than two plants in the pot but if you had a bigger pot you could.

In a bigger, more contemporary pot, the brothers advised using different plants for a more “crisp, clean look”.

They described the container as more of a “city pot”.

The brothers advised using more of the stipa grass in the pot.

The gardening experts also planted a verbascum plant which costs around £8.99 and a salvia plant for around £6.99.

Phillip asked the duo whether they ever “fall out” when they garden together.

Both of them said “no, never” but Phillip urged them to be honest.

They revealed: “There’s obviously disagreements.”

“We’re actually very similar. We’re three years apart but we’re more like twins as we’ve lived together all our lives,” they added.
