For Evan Ross and Ashlee Simpson Ross, their Bohemian-inspired home is more than just a place to raise their family. The singers, married since 2014, recently recorded their first album together, Ashlee+Evan (they also have an E! reality series with the same name), and their cozy abode served as the setting for part of the musical process.

“This home is our favorite place,” says Simpson Ross, who loves spending time with her husband at their outdoor firepit and backyard pool. “It’s not just for us but for our friends and our family. It’s like a big, warm hug.”

The couple wanted to showcase artwork with a personal connection on their living room walls, including a self-portrait by their late family friend Michael Jackson and dozens of Ross’s own creations. “A lot of the stuff I create gets put on the [living room] wall,” says Ross, whose artistic medium varies from Sharpies to paints. “It’s part of my life.”

“Our house is about creativity,” says Ross, whose sketches of stars like Sammy Davis Jr. and his mother, Diana Ross, are displayed in the home. “I love to be inspired.”

Ross keeps memorabilia from his mother’s career close at hand next to their record player. “This house tells you who we are,” Ross says.

Although Simpson Ross says the couple “often have a house full of kids,” (she is mother to son Bronx, 9 with her ex Pete Wentz and 3-year-old Jagger, who she shares with Ross), her home isn’t all play. The home office features decorative lamps and dreamcatchers to fuel their creativity when working. “We live a pretty bohemian lifestyle,” notes Simpson Ross. “It works for us.”

While Simpson Ross loves vintage pieces made from soft materials and Ross enjoys more eclectic, artsy styles, the pair admits that once they’ve fallen in love with something, they have trouble getting rid of it. “We both like to hold on to things,” says Simpson Ross of their various collections, which include the hats on display in their home office. “We could probably work on that!”

Some of the couple’s most treasured memories are rooted at home. “We planned our wedding on our living room table,” says Ross, while Simpson Ross adds, “This house is cozy. It’s our little love nest.”
