Simone (Emily Eskell) and Brody (Jackson Heywood) have been trying to live their lives in the Bay as a new couple, but the people around them haven’t been making it easy. After Bella (Courtney Miller) wrote the word ‘homewrecker’ on the door of her office in spray paint, Simone felt betrayed by the student she felt she had a connection with. In addition to Maggie’s (Kestie Morassi) hostile behaviour towards her, Simone felt she had no choice but to resign from her position at the school.
Telling Brody she can’t cope with living as the scarlet woman in the Bay, Brody is stunned at the prospect that they would end up having to do long distance now she’s planning on leaving town. Determined not to lose her, Brody says there’s another way…
In Salt, Justin (James Stewart) asks questions which imply he believes Simone is staying in Summer Bay. She soon realises the Morgans have no idea what the couples’ plans are, and asks Brody what the holdup is. Brody says that, while he’s excited to build a future with her, he’s dreading telling his family.
Eventually, Simone persuades Brody to come clean to his family, and with her at his side, he tells Tori (Penny McNamee) and Justin the news – they’re both leaving the Bay to start a new life together. The Morgans are completely shocked, and tentatively voice their support, but once Brody and Simone have left, they agree they can’t let this happen.
Catching up with Brody when he’s alone at the beach, Tori and Justin try to talk him out of his decision, not believing he’s ready to go out on his own, but the situation soon becomes heated and Brody storms away, saying he doesn’t need their approval. Will the family heal this rift before Brody leaves Summer Bay for good?
