  • Fake cakes

Frothy, frilly, creative cakes are all over Instagram, but most of the time, they’re for eating. And, while delicious, they don’t stick around for long.

Happy Cr@appy Cakes fixes this problem with a creative solution which, just weeks after launching, already has a cult following of interiors enthusiasts, photographers and brands looking for ‘set’ cakes.

These Marie Antoinette-style cakes are handmade by the brand’s founder India Sellars and come in any colour combination, with whichever fruit topping you like.

This is the ultimate tablescape accessory and would look sublime placed on a cake stand as a table centrepiece or to decorate a coffee table.

  • Embroidered napkins

The cottagecore trend has left interiors enthusiasts with a new-found appreciation for slow crafts like embroidery. Which, when coupled with the enduring popularity of tablescaping, has sparked a flurry of beautiful, handmade creations from independent makers.

Cocolulu, founded by all-round creative Louise, practises hand embroidery across a spectrum of homeware and fashion pieces, but the brand’s napkins are especially sweet. On the site you’ll currently find love heart-themed table linens, with more designs like the above coming this weekend.

Other brands to check out with embroidered napkins are Studio Erhart, Rosita Studio and The Embroidered Napkin Company.

  • Fruity accessories

Spring is here, which means summer is coming, and after spending the last year in intermittent lockdowns we’ve never been more ready for sunshine.

In the spirit of summer, interior brands are capturing the charisma of long, warm days with brightly-coloured, fruit-inspired designs.

From Petra Palumbo’s painted lemon jug to For Saint Clement’s dried orange cake stands, fruit influences seem to be everywhere.

One of the most fun manifestations of this trend, though, has to be Wonky Picnic’s strawberry-painted ceramics and these adorable crocheted oranges. In fact, Wonky Picnic produces a whole range of crocheted fruit including bunches of grapes and bananas.

We recommend positioning them in a real fruit bowl to give your worktops an everlasting pop of colour.

  • Hand-painted lamps

Hand-painted details are big across a whole spectrum of homeware accessories right now, but lamps are particularly having a moment.

Bax & Gore is at the fore of this trend, painting colourful designs on both lamps and shades. The brand is experimental with colourways, mixing clashing pink and red, trying out stripes as well as colour blocking on the wooden lamp bases. While their shades feature dalmation-like spots, coral prints and Greek mythology-inspired vases.

If you want to update your lighting collection to include something unique and colourful, you can also look at Polly Fern and Sophia Frances who are doing wonderful things.

  • Hand-punched accessories

Texture never goes out of style but at the moment it seems the fluffier the better when it comes to homeware.

Boucle chairs and chunky throws have paved the way for this trend, but brands like Pixie Divine are now making us covet hand-punched accessories over anything else.

Pixie Divine is developing a range of coaster, lamps and rugs using this laborious method, so keep an eye out for her next drop on 14 March.
