Want to Go to the Game of Thrones Premiere? All It Takes Is a Little of Your Blood

How much do you love Game of Thrones? Would you bleed for the Throne?

Ahead of the show’s eighth and final season, the Red Cross is teaming up with HBO to encourage people to give blood, platelets or AB Elite plasma to help people in need.

And as an added bonus, anyone who donates between Feb. 19 and March 17 is automatically entered to win one of five trips to the world premiere of Game of Thrones season 8 — which means you’ll get to see all of the fights and bloodshed before the rest of your friends tune in on April 14.

And even if you don’t win, anyone who donates between March 7 and 12 will get a special bloodied throne T-shirt and sticker (but get there quickly, because they could run out).

The Red Cross said in a press release that after months of snow storms and the extreme cold that left most of the Midwest and East Coast frozen solid, many of the donated blood went uncollected. They’re hoping that a shot at heading to the Game of Thrones premiere will entice people to head to the blood bank.

“The Red Cross is joining the battle for the living by asking all eligible individuals to help alleviate blood shortages in the real world,” they said in the release. “Blood products are perishable, and the only source of lifesaving blood for patients is volunteer blood donors. Therefore, any disruptions to donations — from severe weather to widespread flu — can lead to an emergency need and cause delays in essential medical care. We need donors of all ethnicities and blood types to ensure the right blood product is available at the right time.”
