Jenna Jameson Just Shared The Daily Habit That Helps Her Stay Sober

Jenna Jameson took a break from her usual keto Instagram posts on Tuesday to talk about self-care—and what that means to her, now that she’s sober.

In the post, Jenna, 44, sits cross-legged on a fluffy carpet, in a meditative pose.“Finding new ways of ‘self care,’” she wrote in the caption. “Gone are the days of non-stop salon trips, spa days, and shopping excursions. Now my days are filled with [children’s video series] Badanamu on Youtube and picking up flashcards and Tupperware off the floor thousands of times in a row.”

Being in recovery forces you to stay accountable and sort through your feelings. THAT to me is self care. I take time everyday to quiet myself and really feel what is going on in me. I wasn’t always able to do this because the demons were too loud. They’ve been gone quite a few years now and it’s allowed me to really find peace. Peace to stay sober and to achieve what I normally thought was impossible. So Batellis nap time doubles as meditation time for mama. She pointed out that recovery from addiction forces her to “stay accountable and sort through your feelings.” (Jenna has only recently been more vocal about her recovery from addiction—though she posted a YouTube video back in 2016 titled “My Sober Journey.”)

“THAT to me is self care,” she continued in her Instagram post. “I take time every day to quiet myself and really feel what is going on in me.”

She added that it wasn’t always easy when she was dealing with her “demons,” but added that “they’ve been gone quite a few years now and it’s allowed me to really find peace. Peace to stay sober and to achieve what I normally thought was impossible.”

“So Batelli’s nap time doubles as meditation time for mama,” she concluded her post. “I hope you’re able to find a few minutes to examine how you feel, it’s freeing.”

This isn’t the first time Jenna has addressed mental health on Instagram. Just last week, she opened up about getting stronger mentally through her weight loss journey. “As of today I can say my mental game is STRONG,” she wrote on Instagram. “I feel I can do anything, I conquered abuse, addiction, PTSD, and depression.”

Jenna also mentioned practicing yoga—something she previously thought was “boring and annoying”—because “it forces you into your own head and feelings.” She says she often “sneaks onto [her] rooftop [to] enjoy morning yoga before anyone is awake.”

Since I had a catastrophic (I’m being dramatic) first gym session with an injured shoulder that put me out of commission for two weeks, I’ve decided to start yoga. I always was a nay sayer when it came to yoga ( I thought it was boring and annoying). Maybe because it forces you into your own head and feelings. The quiet of it used to scare me.
