The star has just announced another series of the Saturday morning show with a whole host of celebrity guests and chefs as well as a new cookbook on butter. But in an ominous tweet, the chef thanked A&E for “stitching me up.”

James instantly gained support from his 700,000 followers with many wanting more details about his trip to urgent care.

The comments were speculating about what the chef could have done to have warranted stitches.

One fan who also posted a recent pic with James at Carfest, the festival based in Hampshire, commented: “Lovely to meet you on Friday at Carfest and glad to hear your finger is now stitched up.”

Indicating that the injury was to the stars finger and was most probably cooking related.

Confirmation of his injury came when the chef posted some pictures on his Instagram.

Pictured smiling in one of the classic cars at the festival, James’ middle finger on his right hand is also fully bandaged up.

In the tweet he also thanked the staff that attended to his injury.

With his finger tightly bandaged up and needing stitches, whatever the cause was, we can safely speculate that the injury was quite severe.

Despite his love of full-fat butter, James’ health on the whole has been quite good.

This was until he witnessed the traumatic and sudden death of a gentleman he was talking to at a gig.

Appearing on Loose Women after a break away from work he described the horrific experience.

He said: “I was doing a gig abroad and I was chatting to a gentleman the same age as me, similar work ethic.

“He went out on stage literally five minutes after I spoke to him to do an awards ceremony and he died before he hit the floor.”

The event made James realise that he needed to take a step back from work in order to “readdress the balance” between his life on and off TV.

Scientific research states that work related stress can cause an increased risk of heart disease, strokes and heart attacks.

Health Harvard noted that regardless of socioeconomic status, stroke risk “was higher in all those who worked long hours.”

Although the link between the two is not entirely known, it is thought that the longer hours means there is less time for factors such as exercise and healthy diets.

Alongside an unhealthy diet, there is higher consumption of alcohol and cigarettes which people depend upon to deal with stress.

James has been presenting Saturday Morning with James Martin since 2017.
