High blood pressure – the best essential oil to lower your risk of deadly hypertension

You should never consume aromatherapy oils, added the nutritionist, as lavender oil supplements are available for anti-hypertensive effect.

“Constant high blood pressure wears away at your artery linings and can lead to long-term damage if not controlled,” said Dr Brewer, on her website MyLowerBloodPressure.com.

“Lavender oil has a long history of medicinal use in reducing anxiety, stabilising moods and for its sedative effects in promoting sleep.

“Inhaling lavender aromatherapy oil can also lower your blood pressure, even in an anxiety-inducing environment such as a hospital intermediate care unit.

“Inhaling lavender oil works via the limbic system in the brain, especially areas known as the amygdala and hippocampus, to suppress the overactivity associated with anxiety.”

You could also lower your blood pressure at home by doing regular breathing exercises, she added.

Breathing exercises are one of the most effective forms of natural hypertension remedies.

The exercises help the body to control the blood pressure receptors in the chest wall, and slow down your heart rate.

Deep breathing for just a single minute can lower a high blood pressure by as much as 9.6/3 mmHg.
