Prostate cancer is the most common type of cancer to be diagnosed in men in the UK, according to the NHS. You could be at risk of the disease if you develop any of these five key warning signs.
The tumour affects the prostate, which is a small gland that’s found in the pelvis of men.
It’s not always easy to know if you’re at risk of prostate cancer, however.
That’s because the symptoms tend to develop very slowly over a long period of time.
But, one of the most common warning signs of prostate cancer is struggling to start your urine stream.

A number of prostate cancer patients develop urinary hesitancy when using the loo, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Some people have also reported having an unusually weak urine stream, it added.
You may find that your urine stream finishes, despite feeling like your bladder isn’t entirely empty.
A burning pain while urinating, or passing more urine than normal, could also be caused a prostate tumour.

“Different people have different symptoms for prostate cancer,” said the CDC. “Some men do not have symptoms at all.
“If you have any of the following symptoms, be sure to see your doctor right away: Difficulty starting urination; weak or interrupted flow of urine; frequent urination, especially at night; difficulty emptying the bladder completely; pain or burning during urination.
“If you have any symptoms that worry you, be sure to see your doctor right away.
“They may be caused by conditions other than prostate cancer.”
But just because you develop any of these key warning signs when using the toilet, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you have prostate cancer.
For example, urinary hesitancy may also be caused by a urinary tract infection, certain medications, or even a sexually transmitted infection.
Your symptoms are more likely to be caused by prostate cancer if they’re accompanied by at least one of the other key warning signs.
But it’s still important to remember that some men don’t show any symptoms of a tumour in its early stages, which is why it’s crucial to regularly have your prostate checked by a doctor.
Meanwhile, some of the more common prostate cancer symptoms include losing control of your bladder, and having a painful ejaculation.
Other symptoms include finding blood in your semen, and having an unexplained pain in your back.
You should speak to a doctor if you’re worried about the signs of prostate cancer.
Around 50,000 new cases of prostate cancer are diagnosed every year in the UK.
