Due to staff isolation and a supply chain disruption, Nando’s is experiencing a shortage which has resulted in the restaurant having to close its stores.

Due to staff isolation and a chicken shortage, Nando’s has been forced to close nearly 50 restaurants across the UK.

The restaurant has also cancelled its delivery options.

Nando’s blamed the shortage of chicken, and a lack of staff due to the ‘pingdemic’.

Staff shortages had already caused many popular menu items such as Peri-Peri wings and thighs to be removed from the menu.

The restaurant has said it will provide 70 staff to its suppliers’ factories.

This is in order to restore the normal delivery levels and reopen the affected restaurants.

Nando’s has not yet confirmed which menu items are affected by the shortage this time or how long the disruption will last.

On their official website, the chain stated almost 50 restaurants in the UK have had to close today due to “supply chain issues”.

In the affected restaurants, a sign read today: “Sorry, we will be close today.

“Today, we will be closed due to stock supply issues affecting trade.”

Pictures shared on social media showed customers being turned away as the restaurant had to close its doors.

Many customers complained about their lack of chicken or the delivery issues.

“@Nandosuk today annoyed me. I went to TWO different branches and literally half of the many was no available,” a customer said on social media.

A Nando’s spokesperson explained: “The UK food industry has been experiencing disruption across its supply chain in recent weeks due to staff shortages, and a number of our restaurants have been impacted.

“However, we can confirm that from today Nando’s will be lending seventy of our brilliant team members to support our key suppliers – working in partnership to help get things moving again.

“We expect to see this having a positive impact on the affected restaurants very soon. So please bear with us whilst we do everything we can to get our famous PERi-PERi chicken back where it belongs – on your plates!” he told MailOnline.
