Mum makes brilliant home cinema for her kids and charges £4 for sweets

If you went to the cinema and didn’t spend your life savings on snacks, did you really go to the cinema?

But we’re currently facing a global pandemic and with everyone in lockdown, we’d love to be able to overpay for the cinema once more.

One mum who wanted to treat her kids to their fave films ended up making her own cinematic experience from the comfort of her home.

Posting on Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains she shared her home hack where her kids could choose from two films (with different viewing times).

Just because they’re her children doesn’t mean they got in for free either. Each stub cost $5 (£4.07) as well as additional costs for the tuck shop which offered cookies, sweets, and popcorn.

But true to cinema form, the goodies cost an extra $3-$5 (£2.44-£4.07).

They were tempting treats too, including Oreos, Twizzlers, Starbursts, Reese’s and more.

We love this idea, we’re thinking about trying it out.

And because children don’t have any money (annoying), the mum knew she couldn’t actually charge them the cost of watching a film.

So instead the genius mum charged them in chores where they had to complete it without any help, to watch either Spies in Disguise or Onward.

Over on Facebook, the post got plenty of love and was shared more than 3,000 times.

The mum posted pictures of her make-shift cinema and captioned it: ‘Can’t go to the movies, so we brought the movies to us!

‘In order to earn movie money, they had to clean their room with no help. (Mostly no help anyway). They loved it.’

Other parents loved it too and said they’d be trying it on their children, especially as they’re bored in lockdown.

One mum joked: ‘Food prices way too cheap for a cinema. (Great idea, kids would love this).’

Meanwhile, others wrote: ‘This is a brilliant idea and ‘Good idea for kids to keep their rooms tidy

And another commented: ‘Love this idea! I might pinch it.’

Will you be trying it on your kids? Or maybe your flat mates? (good way to make a bit of extra cash).
