Jonathan recently shared photos of giant boxes of food to the LatestDeals.co.uk website, which includes £10 worth of chicken breast.

The dad-of-one revealed how his shop included bags of fruit and vegetables, crisps and chicken breasts and leftover Christmas goodies – all by using a food waste app.

Jonathan bagged the incredible deal after using an app called Too Good To Go – which enables customers to pick up discount food before it’s taken off the shelves.

Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, said: “The Too Good To Go app is one of my favourite surefire ways to grab a bargain on food.

“Not only can you get these amazing magic boxes of food, stuffed with items you might not necessarily think to buy but that you might love once you try them, but you can also get huge discounts off restaurant food near you.”

Jonathan told The Sun that he has picked up several bargains using the app and collected his latest bumper box from a Morrisons store in Sheffield.

The dad said: “The app allows you to purchase ‘magic bags’, which are bags of food which would have been wasted instead. Think I got very lucky. I’ve had a couple of good ones, but this blew them out of the water. £10 just in chicken breast!”

The thrifty shopper, who shared details on the bargain box on LatestDeals.co.uk, has used the app a few times before to feed his family.

He said: “Usually the Morrisons bags are stuffed with vegetables, always worth well over £10, however, this time I felt I hit the jackpot.

“My bag contained two kilos of fresh chicken breast, a large top brand ham, sausage rolls, pork pies, mini pasties, chicken kievs, pasties, humous, quiches, and savoury eggs.”

After this incredible result, Jonathan headed back again, writing: “Two more boxes collected today, again both good hauls. Some things dated well into the year too!”

He continued: “I always enjoy the surprise of what we get, as does my seven-year-old daughter.

“I love to use the Too Good To Go app as not only do I get a bargain, but I also save wasted food and get to try things I may not otherwise choose to buy.”

Speaking about his “three main tips” for getting the most of the app, Jonathan explained: “Firstly, add your local stores to favourites, as this makes it much easier to keep an eye on them.

“Secondly, watch what time the item sold out the day before, as this will be a rough time when it will come available that day (the Morrisons boxes sell out almost instantly).

“Number three, keep refreshing your favourites. When the item for sale changes from ‘Sold out at xx:xx’ to ‘Sales ended’ that means the new boxes for that day will be coming live very soon.”

Morrisons is currently the only supermarket that has signed up to the scheme but only 80 out of the 491 shops currently offer the service.

Its reduced rate boxes are really popular but many users struggle to get one for themselves due to the limited number on offer and how fast they sell out.

So far, Jonathan has managed to purchase three boxes from Morrisons.

The food is all close to expiry but customers can freeze it, or cook something up and keep it for a few days more.

Since Morrisons signed up to the scheme, there have been many reports of delighted shoppers bagging food boxes filled to the brim.

One fan of Too Good To Go took to Twitter to express their fondness of the app, they wrote online: “The concoction of different foods I’ve had today is great. Can’t wait till I finally get the Too Good To Go Morrison’s box to see what else I can come up with ”

Whilst a second fan urged her Twitter followers to download the app to gain access to the deals also: “Go on the too good to go app if you shop in Morrisons- a huge box of stuff for about £3 including veggies, fruit and bakery stuff!”

A third fan took to Twitter to share what they received from using the app: “Okay so we downloaded the Too Good To Go app & got a Morrisons box for just £3! We got: Cheeses,Celery, Cabbage, Mince Pies, Cake Slices, Corn, Bananas, Dwarf Beans, Carrots, Peppers, Donuts, Tomatoes, Bread, Mini Baguette, Choc Chip Brioches, and Brioche Buns.”

A fourth shared a link to download the app, and wrote online: FYI found this out today and thought it was amazing. Can get a whole box of Morrison’s food for £3 on the app too good to go!”
