Jamie Oliver’s ‘lovely’ homemade apple and cranberry sauce – recipe

Jamie Oliver’s homemade apple and cranberry sauce is the “perfect” accompaniment to goose, duck, and turkey meat.

The British chef said: “A hint of apple makes this cranberry sauce the perfect partner for goose and duck, as well as turkey.

“You can make it well in advance, so you don’t have to worry about it while you’re cooking lunch.

“Pop some in a sterilised jar as a lovely homemade Christmas gift that’s sure to impress.”

Whether you’re serving it during the festival holidays, or wrapping it up as a gift, here’s how you can make the “lovely” sauce.

Do note that cooking, plus cooling time, takes around 30 minutes. If giving the cranberry sauce as a gift, put it in an air-tight sterilised jar.

Once opened, the cranberry is best stored in the fridge for longer freshness. Should there be any leftover cranberry sauce past the Christmas season (which is highly unlikely), there’s a lot that can be done with it.

From adding cranberry to breakfast granola bowls to placing on desserts, there are plenty of reasons to make the cranberry sauce all year round.

Plus, once you have made it once, you may never want to go back to store-bought cranberry ever again.

Especially as the combination of ingredients to make it from scratch means you can pay less for more cranberry sauce over time.
