Fun and quirky events in London this week from free spray tans to Burns Night

It never fails to amaze us the range of activities you can get up to in London.

Seriously! Just this week you can get a free spray tan while you wait for your Poke bowl, you can tuck into an eggless egg brunch with Prosecco, you can celebrate Burns Night with actual Ceilidh dancing and have your hair sorted – totally sustainably! – while knocking back sustainable cocktails.

We love London. It’s totally mad. In a good way.

We’re on speed dial…

It’s nearly three quarters of the way through January – not that we’re counting off every day like it was a prison sentence – and we still – somehow! – have a sense of trying to do the right thing.

Well, most of the time. And that’s why we’ll be heading down to London’s Covent Garden for Detox in the Dial, a series of helpful activities based around Seven Dials.

Breakfast at 26 Grains, a treatment at Neal’s Yard Remedies, a stretch at Stretch Inc., juice at White Pine, a skin assessment at Kiehl’s, a back rub, a fitness class…

And the pubs of Soho are so handy once you’ve done all that good stuff!

Until the end of January, various locations, Seven Dials, WC2

It’s no yolk…

While we’re on the vegan tip, how do you fancy a full egg brunch… but with no actual eggs? Worth a try, right?

The place to be is OXBO Bankside, where, thanks to Crackd The No-Egg Egg, you can now tuck into the UK’s first bottomless vegan egg brunch.

For £49, you get four courses over two hours with a buffet for starters, a main and sweet treats like lemon meringue pie, chocolate brownies and Victoria sponge cake all made with Crackd.

Oh and Prosecco, though you can go for the no-booze version for £35 if you’re still ploughing ahead with Dry January. You can even visit the open kitchen to see how it’s all pulled together.

2-8 Great Suffolk Street, SE1

Fake it to make it…

Looking a bit peaky this time of year? How about a free spray tan? Yes, you too can look like someone from TOWIE without spending a brass farthing on it.

How? It’s easy. You just take yourself down to Poke House for a healthy and delicious California-inspired poke bowl, which is kind of what we should be tucking into this time of the year anyway, and while you’re waiting for your bowl to be prepared, you can avail yourself of a full body Cali-Glow tan worth up to £50!

It’s to celebrate Poke Bowl taking over Ahi Poké and you can enjoy the California vibe of Cali-house music, San Diego art, cacti, neon, the works. You look great, by the way. Have you been away?

Between 1pm and 6pm, Thursday January 20, Poke House at 111B Commercial Street, E1

Kid you not…

Do you have children that you need to entertain? Nieces, nephews, next-door-neighbours that you’re trying to appease after that New Year’s party?

Well, after all the spending of Christmas, we have a deal that might help you. Hard Rock café, the super-cool burger joint that is several steps up from what they’re used to, is promising to feed the children for free when you buy a full-priced adult meal (don’t even think about dressing your friends up as children: we know your moves!) And then you can check out all the memorabilia of rock stars, some of whom children may actually have heard of.

Offer available until February 11 with the password Kids Rock.

Love shack, baby…

Anyone who thinks going vegan is all about mung beans and no fun at all clearly hasn’t tried a Pritchards Dirty Vegan burger.

Coming courtesy of Dirty Sanchez madman Matt Pritchard, now a vegan, it’s a spiced chickpea and cauliflower patty topped with aioli, hot sauce, pickled cucumber the works. How do you get your greasy paws on such a thing, you’re asking?

Well, thanks to a collaboration with Young’s pubs across London, you can get your laughing gear around a burger so naughty it deserves to be taken out and spanked at Young’s outdoor Burger Shacks.

But it’s only for January, so don’t hang about. Like you ever hung about when it came to going down the pub.

Various venues

Dram roll please

A Burns Night Banquet? We don’t mind if we do, especially as it’s in the gorgeous surroundings of the Bourne & Hollingsworth townhouse in Clerkenwell.

Slip into something scratchy and tartan, head on down and be welcomed with a whisky cocktail while a traditional Burns Night piper does Rihanna’s greatest hits (not really… it’ll be Wet Wet Wet), then sit yourself down for an incredible five-course supper with Cullen Skink (no idea), haggis, neeps ‘n’ tatties and, best of all, a deep-fried Mars bar!

And if you choose to pair each course with a dram, we’re not here to judge you. Add Auld Lang Syne and some ceilidh dancing and we’re looking at a legendary night out.

6.30pm-12am, Tuesday January 25, 42 Northampton Road, EC1

Scot the Lot

Get your best kilt out of mothballs: it’s Burns Night, the one night of the year everyone finds some Scottish lineage they would like to celebrate, preferably with Scotch.

And this year we’ll be spending it at La Fromagerie in Marylebone, which, we grant you, doesn’t sound that Scottish to the naked ear.

But when they are laying on a five-course whiskey-paired menu and bagpipes (well, you can’t have it all), then we’re packing our sporrans and getting the hell down there.

Whiskey, wine, haggis… and if you prefer to wear your tartans in the privacy of your own home, you can get a Menu Kit and do your own while watching reruns of Lorraine.

Until January 31, Le Bab, Top Floor, Kingly Court, W1

Hair raising

Sustainable cocktails while you get your hair done in a totally sustainable salon? Thank you Blue Tit. We don’t mind if we do, especially as it’s to celebrate World Sustainability Day.

Blue Tit salons – all ten of them – are already well ahead of the game when it comes to sustainability and now in a concept that could only have come together over drinks, they have teamed with Sapling, the first climate positive vodka, to offer the likes of the Sapling Winter Spritz and the classic Bloody Mary while the technicians try to do something with that barnet of yours.

And as if that wasn’t enough, how about Pamper & Pizza where you get a Yard Sale pizza with your appointment in the Brockley and Peckham salons? So in.

Throughout January, various locations
