Waitrose has recalled cheese and chocolate products due to a possible safety risk. Those who have been shopping in stores should check for the affected items.
Waitrose Duchy Organic Cypriot Halloumi
The cheese product has been recalled due to allergy fears.
The item contains milk that is not mentioned in English on the label.
This could cause a potential risk to anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.
The item being recalled is 225 grams with the best before date of May 31, 2021.
Customers should look out for items with the batch code BIO B0530A-3 CY0063.
Those who have bought the product and have an allergy should not consume it.
A statement from Waitrose said: “Do not consume if you have an allergy to milk.
“Package up the item and return the product to your local Waitrose & Partners branch for a refund.
“We apologise that it has been necessary to recall this product and for the inconvenience caused.”
Shoppers with an allergy can return the product to stores or contact customer care.
Waitrose No.1 Dominican Republic Milk Chocolate 49 percent
The supermarket giant is recalling the chocolate item due to a packaging error.
The treat contains almonds, hazelnut and soya not listed on the label.
The Food Standards Agency website said: “Waitrose & Partners is recalling Waitrose No.1 Dominican Republic Milk Chocolate 49 percent because some products contain almonds, hazelnuts (nuts) and soya which are not mentioned on the label.
“Due to a packaging error, some products contain Waitrose No.1 Orange & Almond Chocolate instead.
“This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to almonds, hazelnuts (nuts) and/or soya.”
Packs with the batch code 0259 and the best before date of November 2021 are affected.
Point-of-sale notices have been issued to stores with more information on the recall.
However, the retailer has urged customers not to eat the product if they have an allergy.
The chocolate can be returned to stores for a full refund.
