Has anyone else been dreaming of Dishoom’s black daal?
We hate to admit it, but we’ve even missed the queues to get in.
Dishoom closed its doors back in March, when restaurants were forced to shut to stop the spread of coronavirus.
Since then, loyal customers have been missing the restaurant’s signature dishes (we’re looking at you bacon naan).
The good news is that Dishoom is now back in business and is operating a delivery service in London.
The takeaway service is available through Deliveroo from the King’s Cross, Shoreditch and Kensington branches, from 11.30am to 10.30pm.
It’s worth pointing out that the restaurant is running a limited menu – but many old favourites are back, including vada pau, chilli chicken, keema pau, biryanis, chicken ruby, mattar paneer and the house black daal.
In terms of drinks, the Thums Up, Limca and Pallonji’s Raspberry Soda are available on the takeaway menu, along with a selection of beers and wines.
Dishoom is also donating a charity meal with every order made – so even more reason to order one tonight.
For those looking to recreate an authentic dining atmosphere at home, the restaurant has also created an Irani café playlist on Spotify.
In other food news, Wilko has launched a multi-section frying pan, designed to cook different components of a fried breakfast. The handy product has six different sections, which means eggs, beans, sausages, bacon, mushrooms and tomatoes – or whichever six ingredients of your choosing – can be ready at the same time.
Domino’s has also been helping people at home in lockdown. The pizza giant has revealed the best way to quickly reheat a slice so it remains nice and crisp, rather than soggy.
