Cheap pumpkin spice latte recipe uses just five ingredients and tastes ‘amazing’

Pumpkin spice lattes are the epitome of autumn for coffee lovers who long for warm, sweet, and spiced drinks.

Many have been looking forward to the return of the warming beverage at their favourite coffee shops – but they may be disappointed when they see the cost.

While it’s hard to beat the authentic flavour of a freshly brewed cup from Starbucks, the original spiced latte will set customers back a minimum of £3.65 a time, or £3.40 if they bring their own cup.

Luckily for those looking to cut costs, it’s easy to replicate the blend of espresso, pumpkin spice sauce, steamed milk and topped whipped cream at home for a fraction of the price.

And this simple five-ingredient recipe shared by Alexandra Lourdes (@alexandra_lourdes) is simpler than most.

Sharing her method on TikTok, Alexandra claimed that she had “been waiting all year” to start making her own pumpkin spice latte at home.

The recipe is easy to adapt to suit a dairy-free diet too as it works with almost any kind of milk, so it’s really down to personal taste.

Coffee lovers who had tried the recipe even took to the comments to praise it as suitable for diabetics and for its “amazing” taste.

Ingredients

  • Two tablespoons of maple syrup
  • Two tablespoons of pumpkin puree (available at Sainsbury’s and Waitrose)
  • Spices (ground cinnamon and nutmeg)
  • 240ml milk
  • Espresso shot

Method

Start with a large saucepan and place two tablespoons of pumpkin puree into it, followed by the syrup and milk.

Stir continuously over low heat before removing it from the stove and adding in a couple of shakes of ground cinnamon and a pinch of nutmeg. Alexandra also poured in half a teaspoon of vanilla extract for extra sweetness.

Brew a small amount of coffee or an espresso shot and pour the warm milk mixture into the filled coffee cup for a frothy top.

Finish with a dusting of more cinnamon and nutmeg before tucking into the sweet, spiced drink.
