Applebee’s Is Selling Strawberry Margaritas For Just $1 Each

At this point, the $1 drink deal at Applebee’s is the stuff of legend. The chain’s discount lasts for a limited-time ―usually for one month— and features drinks like $1 Bahama Mamas in January and $1 Long Island Iced Teas in June. Now, the Dollaritas deal is back for August, and it’s better than ever.

As People reports, this month’s deal is for strawberry margaritas, which are made with tequila, strawberry, and margarita mix and is served on the rocks in a 10-ounce mug.

“It’s crazy to think that our most popular drink could get any better, but with the addition of strawberry, our guests are going to love how good this Dollarita tastes,” Patrick Kirk, vice president of beverage innovation at Applebee’s, said in a press release. “The Strawberry Dollarita is the perfect way to cool down on those hot August days and enjoy the final days of summer.”

As usual, people on Twitter got VERY excited about this deal.

There was some controversy last year about just how much alcohol was actually in the Dollarita deals, as an Applebee’s bartender claimed that the drinks were mostly water. Applebee’s refuted the claim, stating that the bartender “did not follow the proper preparation instructions for the Dollarita.”

And while these deals may be good for your wallet, they’re also boosting Applebee’s sales. As Today reports, while Applebee’s same-store sales fell 5.3 % overall last year, the company also saw those same-store sales start rising at the end of 2017, when the drink deals were first announced. Restaurant sales also grew 1.3 % in the last three months of 2017. Because what’s a $1 strawberry margarita without some appetizers, too?
