Woman transforms her grotty sofa using a £1 wonder product and the results are amazing

A MUM-of-three has revealed how she managed to revamp her sofas using a £1 cleaning product.

She revealed that she hadn’t been on top of the housework lately, after welcoming her youngest five weeks ago.

Her kids, one nearly turning three, two and the five-week-old, 'ate and drank' on the beige sofas, and her partner would sit in them in his dirty work clothes.

Over time they became faded and suffered stains associated with family life, including getting covered in blue pen and sudocrem.

Sharing snaps of her handiwork to Facebook group Hinch Army Cleaning Tips, she said: “My mental health hasn’t been great, on top of being really tired I gave up caring about my house which I usually take a lot of pride in.

“The girls ate snacks and drank on the sofas, partner came home and sat down with his dirty clothes on and they got progressively worse.

“I was so embarrassed to have anyone over.”

But determined to get her home sparkling again, the mum consulted a professional cleaning company over her couches – and was horrified when they quoted £140 to restore them.

She decided to clean her armchair and three-seater sofa herself, hiring a rug doctor machine for just £26 – including the upholstery attachment.

She said: “I had nothing to lose since the chair and sofa
were fit for the dump!”

Shunning expensive branded products, she bought Astonish Vac
Maxx Carpet Shampoo – which The Range sells for just £1.

Revealing how she got her couches looking as good as new, she said: “We firstly sprayed on the solution and then scrubbed with a hard bristled brush.

“Then used the attachment to vacuum all the dirt out.”

She shared before and after snaps of her sofas, showing their incredible transformation.

The mum continued: “I think the results speak for themselves!

“It’s not perfect admittedly… but I’m so pleased with the
results!”

She added they dried quickly and now smell “lovely” in the
living room.

She finished her post by saying: “So I hope this inspires someone. I’ve now put covers over the chairs and food and drink stay in the kitchen.

of our home.”

People have praised her handiwork online, with her post racking up dozens of impressed comments.

One person said: "Fab going to try this! Glad you're feeling better."

Another commented: "Well done. You did a great job and you should be proud of yourself."

A third added "As if you felt you had to explain yourself to us, well done girl!

"You're doing amazing."

Plus this woman revealed how she managed to remove mould in her bathroom just by using cotton wool and bleach.

Meanwhile this mum transformed her tired looking sofa by making new covers for it.

And cleaning fans are debating the 'correct' way to vacuum – and not everyone agrees.
