We are delighted to welcome back our celebrity judging panel: Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway, bestselling author Giovanna Fletcher, TV presenter Angellica Bell, and columnist Deborah James. They’ll be sifting through your entries to pick the winner, and they can’t wait to get stuck in.

Mum-of-three Giovanna, 34, says: “I’m thrilled to be a part of the panel for Fabulous’ Mum Of The Year again. Motherhood is one of the most amazing things ever, but it can also be full of self-doubt, worry and a feeling of never getting it right. This is a way of telling someone in that situation that they’re doing a wonderful job – and sometimes we all need to hear that.”

After a nationwide search, last year it was full-time campaigner, Thuto Mali, 38, who won our Supermum Of The Year and was treated to a luxurious stay at Champneys.

Thuto, who lives in London with her son Kayan, three, was nominated by her sister Manzi, 26, after not only helping to raise her when their mother died in 2001, but also saving Manzi’s life when she contracted sepsis and tirelessly lobbying the government to give single mums more financial help and support.

Thuto says: “When Manzi called to tell me that I’d won, I couldn’t believe it. We might be sisters, but ever since our mum Nomathemba died aged 39 from heart failure, I stepped in to help raise Manzi. I had no idea she’d nominated me, but it was such a lovely gesture as I’ve had a tough few years.

“When I became a mum myself to Kayan in 2016 I was on my own, which was difficult. Then in 2018 I was forced to turn down my dream job as a communications officer and a salary of £32,000, because I couldn’t afford to put him in nursery full-time. It seemed unfair, so that July I signed up to the Save The Children campaign to encourage the government to help parents with upfront childcare costs.”

Thuto launched a Change.org petition, which gained nearly 80,000 signatures, and consequently was invited to give evidence on why the current system needed to change before the Work and Pensions Committee in Parliament in October 2018. But days later, Manzi suffered a stillbirth at 28 weeks and Thuto dropped everything to be at her sister’s side. Then, a few days after being released from hospital, Manzi suffered a seizure. It turned out she had contracted deadly sepsis.

Thuto adds: “Manzi was put in an induced coma and I sat with her until she recovered.

“It was terrifying, but we’re now closer than ever. In July I took Manzi on the Champneys spa break with me – she deserved some time to relax, too.

“Since winning Mum Of The Year I’ve continued lobbying the government to make childcare more affordable for parents on low incomes so they can return to work. I can’t wait to read who is picked as this year’s winner. Being a mum is the most rewarding job in the world, but it can also feel like an uphill battle sometimes. Good luck to all of the mums out there!”
