Stacey Solomon: Why are women bleaching their anuses to look like porn stars? I don’t even know what mine looks like

I HAVE never once considered if my anus is the “right” colour or not.

But, sadly, it seems to be the latest body woe among young women.

Requests for anal bleaching have surged by 23 per cent  in the last few years, according to a top London clinic.

Women reportedly want to “look like porn stars” or simply be more Kardashian.

Geordie Shore stars Charlotte Crosby and Sophie Kasaei have also lightened their behinds.

What the actual heck is happening in the world?

Seriously, I have to make a conscious effort to keep loving and appreciating all of the physical aspects of my body. From time to time, I glance at it and am unnecessarily judgmental about myself. So now I’m suppose to worry about the parts of my body I’ve never seen?

I have NEVER seen that part of my body. Is it even possible? Even with a mirror! How and, more importantly, why does one look directly at it?

Come on guys, can we please stop making up all of these ridiculous money-making, pointless “beauty” treatments?

Why oh why would anyone need their bottom hole to blend into the rest of their body?

I just do not understand. Not even a little bit. It’s insanity.

Contrary to what I had imagined, there’s no actual bleach involved in anal bleaching – ridiculous I know – instead it is a process in which a laser is used to lighten the colour of your skin around the anus.

Your anus can be whatever flipping colour it wants to be! You can’t see it, and as for anyone lucky enough to catch a glimpse, I’m sure it’s the least of their worries, too. If it’s not? Dump them.

Has any woman ever, anywhere, had somebody express their dissatisfaction and disappointment over the shade of their anus? I doubt it very much.

What's all the fuzz about – and is it safe?

ANAL bleaching is the process of lightening the colour of the skin, not the hairs, in the bum region.

It was established for cosmetic reasons, to make the skin around the hole more uniform with the rest of your panty region.

After the rise of Brazilian waxes, women – and some men – began to notice that their anuses had a darker hue.

If you have noticed this on yourself, it is very common – and completely normal.

Thanks to the likes of Kim Kardashian, we're becoming more and more obsessed with our rear ends.

Scores of celebs have spoken out about their new-and-improved bums.

Marnie Simpson was filmed DIY bleaching Sophie Kasai's bum on Geordie Shore, while their former co-star Charlotte Crosby admitted she had the procedure done on Celebs Go Dating.

But be careful; if done in a dirty spa or by an untrained professional, anal bleaching can cause herpes, scarring and infection.

It could also lead to strictures, which make the opening smaller and bowel movements difficult, or tears in the anal canal.

"It’s not the most gratifying treatment," New York Dermatologist Doris Day MD told Cosmospolitan.

"The darker pigmentation will always come back so it’s not permanent.

"And there’s also a chance of total depigmentation (the skin going completely white) or in some cases, because of how one’s skin reacts to the bleach, a darkening of the area."

Bottom line is – excuse the pun – we are being suckered into more and more ridiculous, unnecessary beauty trends so that someone can line their pockets with our insecurities.

Our warped desire to be anything other than the way God made us is driving us to unfathomable lengths to achieve “perfection”.

Thanks to the cosmetic industry we can now rest assure that every crevice on our body is worth worrying about right down to our anuses. Wonderful.

If you’re considering this treatment, at the ever so reasonable price of £500 per session, and you’re happy to go ahead knowing you could be at risk of scarring and infection, please reconsider. Put the money towards ANYTHING else.
