My mates and I accidentally ended up living with an OAP, 80 – it wrecked our party house… and my sex life | The Sun

A MAN has revealed he accidentally got stuck living with a pensioner in second year of university.

The student revealed he ended up living with a pensioner in shared accommodation for a year and it was a nightmare.

Tom Elwes shared his story in a TikTok video online.

He explained: “When I was 19 and a student, I ended up living with an 80 year old man for a year.”

Tom explained he and some other students were renting a flat in town.

He said: “How did this happen? Well, me and four other students, also aged 19, in our second year, wanted to find a house in the middle of town.

His landlord assured him that a mysterious lodger who rented an empty room in the flat would not be seen.

He said: “We went to Oxford Brooks, the estate agent who let us the house, told us there be a lodger who had a room in the house that we were gonna get, but we would never see him.”

“He didn't live there, he lived in another part of the country. And he only had the room for tax reasons.”

“In hindsight, that was incredibly stupid.”

Six weeks later a stranger showed up one day in their house.

“So we move in, all good. For six weeks, okay, all is well. Then one day we're playing PlayStation downstairs and we just hear a hello. Hello! Coming from upstairs.”

“We obviously all are terrified, so we run upstairs and the room that had just been a locked door for the entire six weeks is now open.”

“We go into the room, there's just an 80 year old man in there. His name is Mr. Kirkham. He seems like a nice guy, but it was weird that he was 80.”

Naturally Tom called his landlord right away.

He said: “So we called our landlord and we're like, um, I don't think we can live with an 80 year old man.”

“Our Landlord was like, yeah, oh, I'm sorry. I spoke to Mister Kirkham  and he says he wants to stay for the rest of the year.”

“Oh, and you're gonna have care workers in and out of your student party house twice a day.”

Word got out that Tom was sharing a flat with an 80 year old man and Tom was not happy about it.

Tom said: “We became pretty famous across all of the town. I'll be in bars on nights out, and people will be like, oh, have you heard about the boys in with the old man?”

“And I'll be like, yeah, that's me. That's not funny. This is my life.”

Unfortunately life as Mr Kirkham’s roommate was not easy at all.

Tom said: “Various weird things would happen. I know he was a nice guy, but he would do things like come into your room at 3 in the morning while you're asleep and wake you up to ask you a question.”

But it was when Tom tried to bring a girl home that the arrangement really got to him.

He said: “Another thing that happened. I really like a girl on my course. I really liked her. Uh, we were on the same course for a while, and we went on a night out,and after the night out,she was like, oh, sure, we can go back to yours for some drinks.”

“And I was like, yes. So I brought it back to mine, and I left her in the basement living room. And I ran out to my room to go get some beers.”

“On the way back down, I heard the worst scream you've ever heard in your life. I thought we'd broken into. I run down the stairs, the other boys come out their rooms as well.”

Tom’s new girl was frightened by his 80 year old roommate.

He said: “I burst into the living room, and she's just back against the wall, screaming her head off because Mr. Kirkham has come downstairs in a dressing gown.”

“And is looking for his glasses. She thinks a crazy person's coming off the street. I have to be like, no, no, I'm very sorry. This is our flatmate. This is Mr Kirkham.”
