Meghan Markle’s dad Thomas is trying to get back in her good books by refusing lucrative TV appearances, Princess Diana's Royal biographer claims

MEGHAN Markle’s dad Thomas is making an effort to get back in his estranged daughter’s good books according to Diana's royal biographer.

Andrew Morton appeared on Yahoo’s Royal Box where he said that the 74-year-old had been turning down TV appearances in an effort to keep “his nose clean” following the birth of his grandson Archie Harrison.

Speaking to host Kate Thornton Andrew explained: “Tom Markle has been very quiet recently.

“He's been approached by Italian, French and German and other TV stations to talk about his relationship with Meghan, or non-relationship, and he turned them down.”

Royal historian Anna Whitelock chimed in: “Do we not think that his comments on the birth were appropriate and respectful and dignified?”

Responding Andrew said: “Exactly, so what I'm saying is he's trying to keep his nose clean… Thomas has been quiet and will remain quiet if he's not prodded.”

Also appearing on the show was PR expert Nick Ede who said that Meghan’s dad would be the one to “heal the rift.2

He explained: “I think Thomas of all of them is going to be the one who actually wants to build this bridge and heal that rift.

“I think Samantha, on the other hand, is very much about headlines, financial gain, so I don't think she's going to go quiet, but I do think Thomas will definitely.”

Anna continued to argue that perhaps the public is not entirely aware of the whole situation.

She said: “I think we also have to accept the fact, dare I say it that we may not be completely privy to everything that is going on. Sorry for that exclusive.

“We do not know what kind of conversations may or may not have taken place.

“So I think absolutely there is this sense that her father has been a loose cannon in the media around the time of the marriage.

“In the last few weeks he has been noticeably absent from the air waves. He did, I think an appropriate statement on the birth so I think we have to give them the benefit of the doubt for now.”

Meghan, 37, gave birth to her and Prince Harry's first child at 5.26am on May 6.

Mum Doria and Harry, 34, were by her side after she was taken to Portland House Hospital on Sunday evening – dashing hopes for a home birth due to her being overdue.

Dad Thomas exclusively told The Sun of his pride – while also revealing his fears he will never see the child.

He said: “I’m delighted to hear that mother and child are doing well.

“I am proud that my new grandson is born into the British royal family and I am sure that he will grow up to serve the crown and the people of Britain with grace, dignity and honour.

“God bless the child and I wish him health and happiness, and my congratulations to my lovely daughter Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry — and God save the Queen.”

In other royal news a royal historian has claimed that "powerful" Meghan Markle has an "influence" over "doting" husband Prince Harry.

It is thought Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ‘will NOT reveal Archie’s birth certificate’.

And Archie's moniker is also believed to be a tribute to Princess Diana, who has an ancestor called Archibald Campbell, 9th Earl of Argyll.
