Shortly after a rumored release date has emerged for sacai x NIKE’s latest release, another new development for the collaboration has surfaced. The LDWaffle — perhaps the most recognisable style from sacai x NIKE — has become the focus of a rework by the American artist KAWS.
Linking up for Free Arts NYC’s 21st Annual Art Auction, KAWS teased black and white colorways of the sneaker on his Instagram earlier this week, ahead of official bidding.
Set to arrive in unique signed shoe boxes, each sneaker features playful artwork on the heel, atop a customised midsole, squiggles under a suede heel and X-marked eyes that KAWS has become renowned for.
Bidding for each sneaker begins at midday on October 16 and will be accessible via the Artsy webstore.
