The Duchess of Cambridge still managed to look as chic as ever when she was spotted earlier this month wearing a face mask for the first time. Kate Middleton and her husband Prince William both wore a reusable face covering to protect against the coronavirus as they visited a care home in Wales in August. Kate wore the same mask for another appearance as she helped volunteers at a baby bank – and it was soon an instant hit with shoppers.
Kate’s pretty floral mask was discovered to be from Amaia London, and soon sold out online as royal fans rushed to get the look.
The Duchess is well known for what’s dubbed “the Kate effect”, whereby anything she wears turns to gold for retailers who are soon inundated with orders by her loyal style fans.
The masks proved to be no exception as they quickly sold out on the Amaia website, though the store had many other designs available for keen shoppers.
The shop, which usually sells children’s clothing and accessories, ended up taking preorders for the pink ditsy print mask to meet with demand.

Kate’s face mask was the Adult’s Reusable Cotton Face Mask in Pink Pepper, a Liberty print featuring a beautifully dainty floral design.
It is made with double 100 percent cotton as well as a filter, with replacements available to buy from the website.
The masks are £15 for adults’ sizes and £12 for children’s – but 30 percent of all proceeds go to NHS Charities Together.
Kate’s popular choice of mask is now back in stock on the website for royal fans who want to steal the Duchess’ look, though the children’s version of the Pink Pepper print is still sold out.

But while the store was struggling to keep up with the demand, eager shoppers were on the hunt for similar styles as soon as Kate stepped out in her new face covering.
According to Lyst, the global fashion search engine, searches in the UK for “floral face mask” surged 185 percent in less than 24 hours following the appearance.
Searches for “ditsy print” and “Liberty print” also jumped up as Kate’s followers sought masks using the same material elsewhere.
Here’s a selection of similar face coverings that would be likely to get Kate’s royal seal of approval – especially as they all include a charity donation in the price.
Cocorose face masks
Cocorose, a stone best known for making foldable shoes, has launched ditsy print floral face masks with two stunning pink designs.
The masks are just £11.99 and come with a matching pouch to store the mask safely so that you’re not unintentionally spreading germs when taking it on and off.
The pretty accessory is made with a double layer of soft fabric with an interior pocket for an optional added filter.
All profits from the masks go to the Honeypot Children’s Charity, which supports young carers.
This British clothing label has started making face masks alongside its vintage-inspired clothing.
The Grey Ditsy Floral face mask with a ruffle design features Liberty Tana Lawn cotton and is made with three layers as recommended by the World Health Organisation.
The pretty mask is £25, but 20 percent of the price goes to the Intensive Care Society.
Royal favourite Rachel Riley has started selling face masks for both adults and children.
The Pink Floral Print Face Mask features a 100 percent cotton outer layer, with a polyester inner layer and a tightly woven cotton-satin lining.
The patterns have been copied from the instructions of the Grenoble University Hospital in France and can be washed at 60 degrees.
The shop is donating 10 percent of all profits from the sale of face masks to Best Beginnings, an organisation that helps to inform and empower new parents.
Each face mask costs £19 and there are a whole host of other designs available, with many in a ditsy-style floral print just like Kate’s.
