Kamala Harris wears symbolic pearls and purple coat for Inauguration Day

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris arrive to inauguration

Kamala Harris, 56, opted for a black face mask today and a bright purple coat for her visit to Cathedral of St.Matthew at Apostle. She also wore some special pieces of jewellery.

The Church ceremony is taking place prior to the 59th Presidential Inauguration.

For the occasion, Kamala wore designs from Christopher John Rogers and Sergio Hudson, two American brands.

Michelle Obama has also been seen wearing Hudson’s designs.

She also added her signature pearls to the look which are an ode to her Alpha Kappa Alpha sisterhood.

Twitter users also had plenty of opinions of Kamala’s outfit and her choice to pick two American designers.

One person wrote: “Kamala Harris and Jill Biden are both wearing outfits designed by American designers! Thank you, it’s great to have America recognised again.”

Another said: “Madam Vice President-elect Kamala Harris in Christopher John Rogers and Sergio Hudon, you simply LOVE to hear it!!”

Rogers is a Brooklyn-based African-American designer from Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Hudson is an African-American designer from South Carolina.

The purple coat featured a low-neck and Kamala opted to keep the coat fastened.

The long-length coat also had pockets to the side and featured a structured bodice.

For hair, she went for a relaxed blow dry with loose waves.

Kamala’s outfits will likely remain symbolic throughout her vice presidency.

She has already worn outfits with huge meaning including a coat from Kerby Jean-Raymond of Pyer Moss.

Jean-Raymond gathered PPE for hospital workers and provided £35,000 in grants for small businesses.
