The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, both 37, are said to be breaking from tradition to spend the festive period at Kate's family home Bucklebury Manor, amid rumours of a feud with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
The royals, as always, will be spending Christmas at the Queen's country estate in Sandringham, which means a professional cooked dinner, very formal church service and presents on Christmas Eve.
So how do the Middletons' festive celebrations compare?
In her first ever interview, Carole, 63, told the Telegraph's Stylist magazine her Christmas essentials are "mince pies, mulled wine and mistletoe".
And, unlike the royals, she doesn't have a strict schedule – but there is still a trip to church.

Carole said: "Generally, we go to church in the morning, then a walk, open a few presents (with more in the evening). Then champagne and smoked salmon for lunch.
"The main Christmas meal is in the evening but with young grandchildren, maybe we'll move that forward."
The Queen's lunch, which starts at 1.15pm sharp, consists of a shrimp or lobster salad followed by roast turkey with all the trimmings and finished with a Christmas pudding and brandy butter.
The kids are rumoured to eat separately in the nursery, while the menus are all in French.
Carole and husband Michael also serve up a traditional Christmas dinner – but plan to serve up a vegan option this year.
"I’ve recently gone vegan," she told the mag. "For Christmas, I’d probably have two options – very traditional and something vegan."
The doting grandmother, who's been planning since Halloween, also wants to put individual fir trees in her grandkids' rooms, so they can decorate them how they choose.
It's unknown exactly who will join them – although Kate's brother James, 31, is likely to be there.
Pippa, 35, may also join with husband James Matthews, 43, (Spencer's brother) and their six-week-old baby Arthur.
Carole described herself as a "normal, hands-on" grandmother to Prince George, five, Princess Charlotte, three, and Prince Louis, seven months in the mag.
She also revealed her "biggest fear" was "losing" daughter Kate.
