To be honest, I usually just check that the vending machines are fully stocked and the receptionist is working hard, then maybe do a press-up or two before leaving.
I hate doing the washing-up. I’ll avoid it at any cost. At one point my partner [actress Hannah Tointon, 30] complained about how many dirty plates were always left in our kitchen sink and suggested that I start using paper plates. Nowadays I’ll just go out for brunch instead to skip the whole cleaning situation.
People recognise me most from The Inbetweeners. I like to tell myself I look fairly different from my character Simon, but I don’t think there’s much truth in that.
Simon was a really normal, approachable guy, and I think that’s why people don’t mind shouting famous lines at me in the street.
It was such a popular show it’s only natural, and I love when someone says they’re a fan because it’s great that it had such an impact – it proves that we did a good job. I’m passionate about all the projects I’ve been involved in and I love working with people I like, so if I f**k up then I feel like I’ve let them down!
I only have one surge of energy per day. Usually it’s deployed in the morning, so I try to get all of my work done then.
If I’m filming I’ll be up really early, but otherwise I’ll head to my office to do some admin or write comedy sketches.
I like keeping my day as normal as possible, doing things other humans do – it helps me stay sane. I’m not a huge lunch person because if I stop to eat then I won’t start again, so I usually end up grazing on something as I work.
Going “out out” isn’t my thing. I’ll log off at around 6pm, and then my favourite thing to do is have a catch-up with friends or take Hannah out on a date.
I should do more culturally nutritious activities, like go to a book club or to the theatre, but I prefer to socialise over a drink and some nice food.
There are so many good restaurants in London, I could spend years trying them all.
The evening is the best part of the day. It’s nice to slow down and get a handle on my thoughts.
I love staying up late, especially if I’m hooked on a TV show – then my sleep pattern goes out the window.
Sometimes I’ll listen to music, but I prefer watching bands live at festivals. Recently I’ve been working on going to bed earlier so that I get enough sleep, and reading seems to do the trick.
After one paragraph I’m fast asleep!
