IT SEEMS everybody and their nan has an air fryer now.
and who can blame them? It cuts cooking time down, uses less energy than an oven and is super easy to clean.
But one air fryer whizz has revealed that people having been cooking steak in the air fryer all wrong – and there's a vital step that people have forgotten.
Taking to TikTok, Steph, from Steph Cooks Stuff, revealed the proper way to cook a steak in the air fryer.
The vital step includes preheating your air fryer, something most people don't do when it comes to cooking in them.
She said: Preheat your air fryer 200 degrees for five minutes."

In the comments section of the video she replied to a user who asked why, they wrote: "I thought the whole point of air fryers was no pre-heating needed!"
She responded: "I only do it for red meat. I don't know if you need to but it's insurance."
After preheating the air fryer, season your steak with whatever you fancy said Steph and add olive oil and salt to finish.
She then puts the steak in for 3 minutes at 200 degrees and then flips it over to cook for a further three minutes.

After, take the steak out of the air fryer add butter on top and wrap it in tin foil and let it rest for five minutes.
"Perfectly even and perfectly medium-rare," she said.
