I gave my plain council house a quick makeover with cheap buys from B&M & The Range…people can't believe how nice it is | The Sun

A WOMAN has revealed that she gave her plain council house a mega makeover whilst on a budget.

Natasha Lawson, from the UK, used bargain buys from B&M and The Range and was able to transform the dull wall in her kitchen, into a much more modern and inviting space.

The mother took to social media to show off her home’s overhaul and in one video, she said: “Day 50 of turning my council house into a home.

“This is the update of the painting, the first coat isn’t too bad to be fair, it will need another one and maybe a third.

“Obviously there’s loads of patches and I couldn’t leave it like that, but I’m impressed with the first coat.

“So I thought I could do the second coat.”

Then Natasha showed off her panelling wallpaper, as she shared: “If you haven't already seen, I’m going to put you onto something.

“My mum put it on to me and honestly, I’m amazed by it.

“You know panelling wood slats? Well, B&M do wallpaper and it creates the illusion of the wood panelling slats.

“It’s £10.99 for a full roll and one roll did the whole wall.

“I am doing this myself so it is a bit of trial and error.

“I did take it off and put it back on a few times.

“It’s not perfect, but I don’t mind.

“It wasn’t as hard as I thought to be fair.

“I cut around the light socket which was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. I thought it was going to be difficult but it wasn’t.

“For £10.99 you literally can’t go wrong.”

In a follow-up video, Natasha showed off her new accessories, as she explained: “I got this mirror from The Range and I think it was £12.99.

“It was the cheapest mirror I’d found and then I used black paint that I already had and just painted on top of it.

“The paint turned out alright, I had to do about two coats to make sure I didn’t miss any streaks but it was already looking much better and was going to fit the style that I wanted.”

Natasha then showed off her new floating shelf, which she hung underneath the mirror, as she added: “I love this shelf, it was from B&M, it was £7.”

She then showed her followers her new candle holder, as she confirmed: “I picked this up from B&M too.

“It was meant to be £4 but I got it for £2 and I just thought that it would look really nice together.”

Once she had styled her shelf, she beamed: “I’m absolutely over the moon with this finished project.

“It just adds a bit of character to the kitchen, it makes it so much more homely.

“It just shows you can still be on a budget and still make your house a home.”

Natasha’s TikTok clip, which was shared under the username @natashalawson20, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 34,000 views.

One person said: “Looks so professional!”

Another added: “Looking fab.”

A third commented: “It looks amazing! You have worked really hard and it’s all starting to come together now.”
