Former Pussycat Doll and Got to Dance judge Kimberly Wyatt talks dodgy jumpers, even dodgier dance moves and JLS turkeys

My husband [Britain’s Next Top Model judge Max Rogers, 36] does most of the cooking. I do more of the baking and I have a family noodle recipe that I always make.

Were noodles a Christmas tradition in your house?

My mother was very poor growing up so the Christmas noodle was a big thing. It’s basically pasta noodles in a broth – it’s stodge you’d have instead of mashed potato.

Will you tuck in to a turkey?

My friend JB Gill [from JLS] has a turkey farm, so we’ll get ours from him. Max has a Jamie Oliver recipe with lots of butter under the skin, which makes it really juicy.

You’ve lived in the UK for eight years now. Which British traditions have taken you by surprise?

The Sunday roast was baffling at first. Americans wait all year for Thanksgiving dinner, but you guys do it every week. Now I love to make roast pork belly with crackling.

Are your daughters Willow, four, and Maple, one, excited about Christmas?

Willow is enthralled with the idea of Santa. They’re going to be so hyped. We make Santa’s footsteps in flour and leave out carrots and port. He loves port!

What’s the worst present you’ve received?

My grandmother always got me and my sister matching clothes. One year we were given sweaters with horses on the front and the mane on the sleeve with all this yarn hanging down one arm.

What makes the perfect Christmas jumper?

The gaudier, the better. You’ve got to be loud and proud. The tradition in my house is to wear sweaters so we look like elves – we’ve all got matching ones.

Why should people get involved in Christmas Jumper Day for Save The Children this month?

At this time of year it’s all about giving back. There are some kids who need a bit more than magic.

BTW

  • Kimberly said her Baileys-based cocktail, was “yummy”.
  • She impressed us by doing the splits while we were chatting. Three times!
  • The Pussycat Dolls sold 56 million records worldwide.

Do you still see the other Pussycat dolls?

I love the girls. I went to see Ashley [Roberts] on Strictly and Nicole came. Ashley lived with me for four months this year. She’s had a tough time, but is doing amazingly.

Nicole was caught on camera apparently chastising Tess for sitting too close to her – what did she really say to her?

I think on Twitter Nicole said she’d told Tess: “The two of us look like Christmas,” in their red and green dresses.

What’s next for you?

I’ve just made a pilot of a cooking show with my little girl called Shake And Bake and I just wrapped a CBBC series called Almost Never, where I play a cold-hearted manager of a young band. It was my first ever real acting gig, and I loved it.

  • Save The Children’s Christmas Jumper Day is on December 14
  • Thanks to JJ Goodman.
