CoppaFeel! Founder on CoppaCollege, the first breast cancer e-learning tool giving you a boobipedia of knowledge

After cancer education finally being added to the school curriculum from 2020 (which I am STILL buzzing about), we are not letting the momentum drop.

I use the word “we” loosely because, as you know, I am not as involved in the day-to-day running of CoppaFeel! any more and can hardly claim the success.

Last year the wonderful people at Avon partnered with CoppaFeel! as part of their Breast Cancer Crusade with the focus on supporting our Boobettes programme.

In case you don’t know, Boobettes are a group of kick-ass awesome women under 35 who talk to audiences about their breast cancer story and the work of CoppaFeel! on our behalf.

We had always wanted to make an e-learning tool, where people can be fully educated and trained up on all things boob.

It comes after research revealed a quarter of women still aren’t sure how to check their breasts.

Just 30 per cent check themselves on a monthly basis, with the main barrier being not knowing what to look for.

Thanks to Avon this is now a reality.

CoppaCollege! is the first e-learning tool for a UK breast cancer charity, allowing you to access a boobipedia of information about the risks, signs, symptoms and where to seek advice.

The tool is the first initiative to fall under Avon’s Pink Light Project, which seeks to reach 50million women across the world.

Avon was the very first company to ever give CoppaFeel! money, before we were even a charity.

In 2009, they ran a grant scheme where you could apply for funds between £1k and £10k if you could prove you had a cool idea that would improve the lives of women.

REMIND to 70500.

It was the first application for money I had ever written and when I found out CoppaFeel! had been awarded £1,000, I cried and punched the air.

And now, a few years on, we’re creating life-saving e-learning tools together.

That’s how crazy life can be.
