Cleaning fans claim window squeegee is better than a vacuum for getting dirt out of carpets

FOR YONKS the best way to clean your carpet has always been to give it a thorough hoover.

But some cleaning fans beg to differ – and swear by a window squeegee for doing a better job at removing floor dirt.

In a post on Facebook, a woman shared a snap of the debris she managed to scoop up in just a couple of minutes using the low-cost handy household tool.

She revealed that it had cleaned her carpet better than her pricey Dyson vacuum cleaner.

The social media user, based in Australia, wrote: "I use the rubber broom on my carpets to get rid of dog hair but needed something small and sturdy for the stairs to get in the corners.

"I vacuumed with my Dyson, then ran this small squeegee over the stairs… just two stairs only… and omg, this Kmart squeegee could achieve more than my $800 (approximately £415) vacuum!"

The woman added that she didn't use any water with the squeegee – and noted that while her Dyson is usually able to clean corners, she just couldn't find the right attachment.

Fellow social media users were very impressed by the results.

One person wrote: "I am definitely going to invest in one for my lounge!"

Another commented: "Brilliant idea, I'll take mine out of the shower!"
