Soon, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will have an interesting choice to make!!!
While the pair will have to make a wide variety of important decisions for their baby in the coming months and years, one in particular looms large right now considering Meghan’s background: will the kid be British, or American, or both?!
As TMZ notes, Harry and Meghan have an interesting decision to make with the coming baby: whether they’ll file special paperwork to make the royal baby a naturalized U.S. citizen.
American citizenship isn’t automatic in this case; even though Meghan is an American citizen, of course, she’s not living in the States and she (most likely) won’t be here when she gives birth. Because of that, her and Harry will need to fill out special paperwork if they are to make the baby an official American.
In a way, this extends to Meghan, too; TMZ sources claim that Markle intends to become a British citizen soon (which makes sense), but it’s still unclear if she will renounce her American citizenship to do it, or simply live out life as a dual citizen.
Big decisions with major legal ramifications coming… we’ll see how it all plays out in the next few months!
