Why Peter Andre wants his kids to have space from Katie Price

Their failed marriage has long caused problems.

But now, in the latest drama to go public, Katie Price says ex-husband Peter Andre is restricting access to their two children, Junior and Princess.

Her claim comes after he whisked them away on a luxury holiday to Florida, this week, where he wants them to relax in peace – without being pestered.

However, she tweeted at 3.30am this morning: "Still up at this hour, trying to contact my kids in America.

"Been trying morning, afternoon and night. Please @MrPeterAndre let me know they are ok?"

His fans waded into the spat, claiming the ex-glamour model shouldn’t be airing her dirty laundry in public. But others jumped to her defence.

So does Peter, 45, have good reason to go off the grid with their youngsters – even just momentarily? And what might be behind it all?

Here’s everything you need to know…

He enjoys a digital detox

Although he works in the media, Peter isn’t a fan of being constantly connected to mobile devices, where people are texting, uploading and scrolling for hours.

To prove it, he regularly has time away from being ‘on-call’ – and doesn’t even let the kids have phones at his house.

Considering they’re staying with him over the summer, this will give them a pro-longed break from social media and – most importantly – new stories about themselves.

During an appearance on Loose Women he recently said: ‘There are rules at home. The main is the ‘one screen”’ rule.

"It’s not for everyone, but basically if the TV’s on there’s no tablets or phones or anything. We watch it together.

"And, we sit at the table and have dinner, no screens no TVs nothing. [The kids] eventually stop rolling their eyes."

Her ‘filthy’ home

Peter has always wanted the best for his children – and that includes their environment.

Thus, he’s likely to be very concerned by the fact Katie’s Horsham home was recently branded ‘minging’ by fans.

It comes after she appeared on ITV’s Through The Keyhole in February.

Eagle-eyed viewers saw mounds of dirty washing in the bedroom and a chaotic walk-in wardrobe, which was overflowing with clothes.

They also noticed a discarded plastic bottle and mounds of clutter.

Meanwhile, as host Keith Lemon walked outside, fans spotted horse poo in the driveway and saw that her swimming pool was afflicted with mildew.

Not a perfect place for young kids…

But its not just cleanliness that could worry Peter.

The home has also been the focal point of marital drama between Katie and ex Kieran Hayler, so it’s understandable that he might want them to have some respite from any toxicity.

Fears over her lifestyle

Katie’s romantic life has always been eventful – and that looks set to continue.

After separating from Kieran she then embarked on a relationship with new man Kris Boyson.

The couple quickly went on holiday to Thailand, where they embarked on plenty of passionate outings with huge potential for wardrobe malfunctions.

Specifically, she was seen nearly falling out of her bikini top while riding horseback.

However, as is common with Katie’s relationships, drama is never far away.

Despite still being in their honeymoon period, rumours soon circulated that they’d split after Katie was spotted out-and-about with another man in the early hours.

Naturally, it played out online and became quite a spectacle.

Given Peter enjoys a steady, stable marriage with wife Emily, he probably wants to shield his kids from being caught in any crossfire.

Her behaviour

It’s no secret that Peter is sometimes disappointed by Katie’s behaviour.

He’s previously scolded her for swearing in front of their children, branding her a disgrace.

So you can imagine how he felt when she recently risked jail by flouting her six-month driving ban.

She got behind the wheel of a car in July to drive her children home from Gatwick Airport , despite being banned.

Video footage showed the mum-of-five leaving the airport’s car park with youngest kids Jett, four, and Bunny, three, in the back seat.

Fortunately, she avoided any serious consequences – and is now back on the road legally – but it didn’t show much respect for the law.

Even if it was an innocent mistake.

Money woes

There have long been rumours about Katie’s solvency.

And they became hard fact when she narrowly avoided being declared bankrupt, this month.

The TV star, who was once worth £45million, dodged a bullet by submitting an application to pay off her creditors with a repayment plan.

Although she’s got until 30 October to start settling her debts, bailiffs have already been knocking at the door.

And, although Katie’s coping well, the process is never pleasant – especially for children.

So, as far as Peter’s concerned, it’s perfect timing for them all to have a break while she conjures up some serious dough.

Drug tests

Earlier this year, Pete demanded Katie take a drugs test before he would release Junior and Princess back into her care – and even stopped them from going to their mum’s 40th birthday party in May.

He feared she’d returned to her party lifestyle and that the children were witnessing it.

Although there was never anything to suggest she was using illegal substances, she previously revealed in her 2014 autobiography she took drugs during their four-year marriage.

Fortunately, she agreed to the test without much drama, but it likely stoked further resentments beneath the surface.

"He has seen too much of her partying and wild behaviour, and bringing yet another new man into their lives is the final straw," a source told The Sun.
