Why Jason Aldean is naming his daughter Navy Rome

Jason Aldean’s inspiration for his daughter Navy Rome’s name didn’t come from his childhood.

“Roman was one of the names [wife Brittany Aldean] liked for Memphis and I wasn’t into it. And so she had the name Navy for this go around and I thought that was cool,” Aldean said on SiriusXM’s “CMA Awards Radio.”

The country crooner, 41, explained that he compromised on Rome after Brittany, 30, changed the name around a little bit, saying: “I can remember that!”

“My name was so common growing up,” he added. “There was always five Jasons in my class which I thought was so annoying … so I just wanted them to have names that weren’t like super weird but they were like just different enough.”

Jason — legally born Jason Aldine Williams — shares daughters Keely, 15, and Kendyl, 11, with his first wife Jessica Ussery. He shares son Memphis, 1, with Brittany.

The Aldeans announced that they were expecting their second child in July and revealed that they were having a daughter the following month.

The former “American Idol” contestant first shared Navy Rome’s name during her “baby sprinkle” earlier this month.
