A former NFL quarterback being an Emily in Paris stan is not what I had on my bingo card for 2022, but this year continues to surprise me. On Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update skit, star athlete Peyton Manning made an appearance to talk all things EIP, and Lily Collins was delighted to see a nod to her character.
Peyton was originally brought onto Weekend Update to discuss the divisional round of the football playoffs but the 45-year-old former quarterback said he got distracted when he watched the first episode of Emily in Paris season 2. I mean, who wouldn’t be pulled in by the totally eventful second season?
“Oh my god, Colin, this show has everything,” he told SNL castmember Colin Jost. “Romance, adventure, sensuality, culture, a fresh take on feminism—finally. Not to mention, a culinary tapestry so rich I can only describe it as food porn.” At some point, he even tossed on Emily’s signature red beret to channel her quirky fashion sense.
Naturally, the leading lady and executive producer of the Netflix hit took to Instagram to share her thoughts on the skit. “Peyton Manning in a beret is everything I didn’t know I needed. Still dying over the @emilyinparis–inspired Weekend Update on @nbcsnl last night…” Lily captioned her post.

Ashley Park, who plays Emily’s musical bestie Mindy on the show, also commented her thoughts. “Beyond 😂❤️,” she wrote under Lily’s post. Sooo…should we start a petition to have Lily host SNL and bring Peyton back for an Emily in Paris skit while Ashley is the musical guest? All in favor, say aye.
