Vogue Williams reveals how she coped with hate during pregnancy

Vogue Williams hits out at trolls who slammed her for exercising during pregnancy and admits she has to ‘write some days off’ due to anxiety

She’s admitted to exercising every day whilst pregnant with son Theodore.

And Vogue Williams has opened up about the hate she received for hitting the gym whilst expecting in an interview with Women’s Health.

The TV star, 33, features in the July issue of the magazine, and she spoke candidly about her strict training regime, coping with anxiety and dealing with exercise shamers.

Vogue welcomed son Theodore with husband Spencer Matthews in September last year, and recently revealed that her amazing figure is down to her exercise addiction.

The Irish model and mother worked out every single day of the nine months leading up to the birth, starting as soon as her morning sickness passed.

Vogue told Women’s Health: ‘I used to get comments off people saying, “I think it’s a disgrace, you need to be relaxing, you’re pregnant, you need to take the next 10 months off!”

‘But that doesn’t suit me or my lifestyle or the way I feel about myself. I train a lot for anxiety, it makes me feel good and I like it.’

While some mothers struggle to lose the weight they put on during their pregnancy, Vogue told the Sun on Sunday she didn’t put much on to begin with.

She credited her muscle memory for getting back in shape so quickly, and the fact she had been working out all her life. However, this didn’t stop the ‘post-baby body police’ from sending hate.

She added to Women’s Health: ‘There was one [article] like, “I pity her for having to get back into shape so quickly after a baby,” and it’s like, I didn’t have to get back into shape. Who am I getting back into shape for? Don’t waste your pity.’

Vogue said the pressure to look good stemmed mainly from social media and women didn’t need to be back to their best figure within six months of giving birth.

However, she advised mothers who did want to shed pregnancy pounds to exercise rather than diet.

She explained that she was very conscious about what she promotes on social media and called diet shakes ‘dumb and dangerous.’

‘I’m at an age where I can see through the bull***t of an appetite-suppressing lollipop, but my younger self probably would have been like, “Oh my God! That’s the best way to lose weight…don’t eat breakfast, just have this meal replacement shake!”

Vogue continued to reveal how she deals with anger online and why she chose to share snaps of her son on social media.

She said: ‘Now, if I’m having an argument with someone, I’m like, I’m not going to talk to you now for 24 hours, and then the difference you feel – even in the space of an hour…I catch myself.’

‘You’re just so proud of them, you want to put [them] up… I don’t really think it’s damaging, you’ve just got to be careful what you post…It’s our life, it’s a part of our life, it’s not really a massive deal.’

She added she was resilient of people’s criticism of her looks, but couldn’t stand people commenting on her parenting.

Reflecting on past anxiety issues, Vogue admitted that she has struggled with suffering from an anxious mind.

She said: ‘Sometimes you just have to write some days off, and I know that’s a terrible thing to say, but it’s the truth.

‘I had days where I was at work and was like, I’ll go for a walk, I’ll do my training and then I’m going to feel much better afterwards. And I didn’t. [Those feelings] just followed me through the whole day.’

Her husband Spencer Matthews, 30, has recently given up alcohol completely and Vogue confessed how cutting down her intake has helped curb bouts of anxiety.

She said: ‘It’s kind of nice that he doesn’t drink because I prefer to spend my money on tennis lessons. That’s so sad! I’m a loser! ‘

Meanwhile, Spencer, Pippa Middleton’s brother-in-law, hit the headlines last week when he caught in the middle of a robbery as six people raided the Hour House in Marylebone.

Spencer, from Made in Chelsea, revealed he had gone to the shop to buy himself a watch.

He went to the shop to pick up a vintage 1991 Rolex Daytona Zenith stainless steel watch – worth £30,000 – when the thieves struck.

He said: ‘I heard some loud bangs, I came out and saw some gentlemen with sledgehammers just banging away, it’s pretty alarming.

‘We ran through the shop, locked ourselves in called police no signal. They meant business these guys. They seemed like they knew what they were doing.

He added: ‘There was glass all over the floor – one piece was remaining and that was mine. I saw just one watch under a sheet of glass and it turned out to be mine – divine intervention perhaps?

‘Absolutely everything was gone, I was very lucky in that respect. I thought of my son and my wife. If they knew there was a vault downstairs they would have gone through us.

Scotland Yard said it had sent specialist firearms officers to the scene, and a man in his 30s was treated for an eye injury after the shop window was smashed.

The couple have been together since they met on the reality show The Jump in early 2017.
