Vinnie Jones has sent Mesut Ozil a stern message after the Arsenal star missed this weekend’s win over West Ham with illness.
The former Germany international was absent from training in the week with a cold, after phoning in sick for a staggering seventh time this year alone, and was forced to sit out the Gunners’ 3-1 victory at the Emirates.
Arsenal boss Unai Emery played down a spat between the duo but has made it clear he expects to see a lot more effort from the midfielder both in training and in matches.
The Spaniard’s tough training sessions have come as a rude shock for some players used to the short, sharp drills Arsene Wenger preferred.
Emery has also proved that he does not care about names or reputations and is ready to be ruthless with his selections.
Former Wimbledon captain Jones spoke out about Ozil on talkSPORT this week, and had some stern words of advice for the German.
"Go and build motorways or go into a hospital and cook dinners for people," said Jones.
"Do something that you can be proud of if you’re not happy having the most fantastic job in the world." Can’t say much fairer than that.
