On Saturday, Cinema Day sent audiences to theaters across the country in droves, as moviegoers could view films for just $3.

By Sunday, Spider-Man: No Way home and Top Gun: Maverick were toe-to-toe for the number one spot of the weekend, with the 80s revival ultimately surpassing the superhero blockbuster.

The latter film was already the top-grossing feature of the year so far, crossing the $700 million mark before Labor Day.

And as for the rerelease of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, it raked in $7.6 million in just four days of being back on the silver screen.
