The Spice Girls’ Australian tour ‘CANCELLED’

Viva never? The Spice Girls’ Australian tour ‘is CANCELLED after negotiations with promoters fell through’ – amid claims Geri Halliwell ‘refused to sign up because she ‘doesn’t need the cash’

It seems the Spice Girls won’t be touring Down Under in 2020 after all.

According to The Daily Telegraph, negotiations with Australian promoters have fallen through after Geri Horner (née Halliwell) refused to sign up for the shows because she ‘doesn’t need the cash’.

‘It never really got off the ground though because of Ginger [Spice],’ an insider said.

The ’90s band is said to have turned down millions of dollars by rejecting lucrative offers from Australia’s biggest tour promoters.

Geri is reportedly the second-richest band member after Victoria Beckham, and is worth an estimated $57million.

It comes after Mel B falsely announced that the Spice Girls would be coming to Australia early next year.

The 44-year-old singer, also known as ‘Scary Spice’, made the brazen announcement at the band’s final London show in June.

‘We’ll see you in February in Australia!’ she declared at the end of the concert.

However, weeks later in an interview with 2DayFM’s Breakfast With Grant, Ed & Ash, Mel admitted that nothing had been confirmed.

Mouthing off: The 44-year-old, also known as ‘Scary Spice’, made the brazen announcement at the band’s final London show in June, only to retract her comments during a radio interview

‘My thing is, and I’ve got a bee in my bonnet about it, is that we need to come to Australia first out the gate,’ she told the radio program.

‘I announced it on stage, yes, without everybody else signing off 100 per cent, but I figured if I put it out there maybe it’s going to happen!’

Her on-stage announcement, and subsequent retraction, left die-hard Australian Spice Girls fans understandably furious.
