The Chicks Reflect On 2016 CMA Performance With Beyoncé

The Chicks recently reminisced about their performance along with Beyoncé at the 2016 Country Music Awards.

During an interview with Apple Music‘s Zane Lowe, the country-pop trio described Beyoncé as being on another level.

Emily Strayer, Natalie Maines and Martie Maguire performed “Daddy Lessons” with Beyoncé from her album Lemondae.

“Where do you start? I mean, I have never been around that level, I don’t even want to say celebrity, but just, I mean she’s on another…” Maines said of Beyoncé during the interview. “The first couple of days we were with her, I started feeling panicked and a lot of stress, thinking of all the money – Thinking of all the money that was being spent.”

“There’s so many people and so much awesomeness. And then I was like, ‘Why am I caring? Sit back and enjoy. Sit back, take it in,'” she added.

Meanwhile, The Chicks’ latest album, Gaslighter, debuted at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Top Country Album charts.

Gaslighter is the band’s first album in 14 years and the follow-up to 2006’s Taking The Long Way. The 12-track record was produced by Jack Antonoff and is available via Columbia Records.

The trio formerly known as The Dixie Chicks recently changed their band name to The Chicks in response to the Black Lives Matter movement.
